Hi, my name is Adam and I’m a fan of the Detroit Lions. It’s been tough for the last years to admit that to people.
But this year – another year full of losses – has been different.
You see, the Lions of the past decade would have started out with a solid helping of losses and then finished off the season with a handful of giving up. Thus, we always had an awesome draft pick.
This year, the Lions – once again – started the year off with the same portion of losses, but instead of working their way to a number 1 or 2 draft pick by losing the rest of their games, they have been winning.
Some fans get frustrated by this because the Lions are winning “meaningless” games and with each win, they move further and further away from the top of the draft.
But the Lions are changing their culture (I HOPE!). They’re playing to win. They’ve had a decade of top 5 draft picks and it has yet to translate into wins on the field.
You see, winning at “meaningless” times has MUCH MORE than simple short term effects. Winning is a mindset. Success breeds success.
Whatever you’re doing play to win. In loving your spouse, raising your children, feeding the hungry, blogging, writing, painting or developing website … play to win.
