reality

there is this reality that i am learning to navigate. there is a reality that some things that happen in our life seem perfect, yet they could be better.

i’ll explain. i just took a group of 22 students on a fall retreat. the weekend seemed nearly perfect. but after some reflection, it wasn’t perfect. yes, there were a lot of times where students were engaging and the adult leaders were loving on the students. but there could have been more.

the program was great, but it could have been better. god was working in the students’ lives, but there were things that we could have done better.

and that is the tension we live in. either we just criticize everything we do or we accept everything that happens as “good.” or maybe we keep striving for greatness and realize that we often, often miss the mark.

the reality is that great stuff happens – but – the reality is that greater stuff could have happened.
