Faith. Burden or Blessing?

For whatever reason, US Christianity has come across as a burden.

For some reason, the words “I have faith in Jesus” have gotten translated to mean, “I can’t do stuff I want to do.”

I don’t know why that is or who started it, but it’s completely false.

Jesus told his followers that he came to “bring life.

So if someone invites you to faith but it doesn’t seem anything like “life,” then turn it down because it’s not Jesus.

And if you’re inviting people to Jesus, please don’t make my savior sound like a burden.

You bring up some great thoughts, especially as we’re gearing up to do a series on being a disciple.

If anything, when being a disciple requires us to give something up, it’s in order to free us from the bondage that sin causes.

“I don’t go to rated R movies because I’m a Christian” doesn’t cut it. But maybe saying something like, “I avoid movies with content that tempts me because I refuse to let sin master me.” The first one is mechanical and shallow. The second one is mature and flexible.
