I pick option 4:
My life is full of rich, real connection, and we share what’s real about our lives all the time. I have people to reach out to when my life is falling apart, and who will tell me when they see something amiss.
I agree with Angela’s comment – there is another man who keeps me in line, but it’s not an intentional every week type of thing. He doesn’t hesitate to point out if he sees something in my life. I also have a mentor that I meet with every other week, but it’s not for accountability – with him it’s a chance to share life and challenges and look at where to go next.
Angela and Ed.
Great thoughts. I figured none of the sentences would describe anyone perfectly. Though I was just looking for a general idea. I figured MOST people were more likely to click to vote on a poll than to reflect and comment (i underestimated y’all).
Well, right, but those options weren’t just a little “not-quite right” — they were like, “What? WTF is that?” Normally, I’d be very happy to click a little button.
Yeah. I was listening to a talk by a pretty intelligent fellow and he was talking about how an “accountability” group had served him greatly in the past. Not so much just about not doing BAD things, but also spurring one another on towards GOOD things.
It got me thinking about having “accountability” in my life (which I don’t). I have people I can go to and who care for me in rough patches, but on a daily basis, I don’t really have people who are making me stronger. Reminded me of the “as Iron sharpens Iron so let one man sharpen another” verse. I realized I don’t have that and I want it.
ps. I do have that online.
